If you’re thinking of going on a diet or changing your eating habits to lose weight and improve your health, it can be tough to decide which one of the many famous diets to opt for. There’s rarely a month that goes by without a famous name or celebrity appearing on TV or in glossy magazines touting the new “wonder diet” that has helped them to shed pounds effortlessly and get into fabulous shape. Of course, in our heart of hearts, we all know that the only way to lose weight permanently or achieve any kind of lasting health benefit is to eat less and do more… and keep doing it. We might know this, but many of us continue to fall for the promise of rapid and effortless weight loss every time; why?
The reason for the popularity of so many famous diets is simply the promise of a quick fix. We’re unable to resist the temptation of being able to get the results we want within a matter of weeks and without having to make any radical changes to our current lifestyle. You see, you might know there’s no such thing as a quick fix but when a celebrity you admire is promoting a diet plan that’s “guaranteed” to get you looking as fabulous as they do, you’re all too easily swayed into believing that this might be the solution you’ve been waiting for. Sure, they may look fabulous, and yes, they may have achieved incredible changes in a matter of weeks, but was it truly effortless? No. The only way to lose weight permanently is to change the habits that led to the weight gain in the first place – and making changes requires effort.
Celebrities are paid handsomely to endorse new diet plans and make them famous, but just because a diet becomes popular does not necessarily mean it will live up to its promises. In today’s world, seeing is no longer believing, and if a “wonder diet” sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
